After rapping under the moniker 'Lil Boosie' for the past decade, the Baton Rouge MC has officially changed his name.

Much like Jeezy, Bow Wow and other rappers who have decided to drop prefixes from their original rap names, Lil Boosie—real name Torrence Hatch—is now going by Boosie Badazz. That is the name officially credited on two of his most recent features on Jeezy and T.I.'s latest albums.

According to XXL, a rep for Boosie confirmed that the name Boosie Badazz that appears in the liner notes on Jeezy's "Beez Like" and Tip's "Jet Fuel" is the name that the rapper is rolling with moving forward.

For most Boosie fans this name change is anything but new. Boosie's 2006 solo album featuring the hit 'Zoom' was dubbed Bad Azz as well as it's followup in 2009 titled Superbad: The Return Of Boosie Bad Azz. It should also be noted that Boosie's record label is known as Bad Azz Entertainment.

The rapper has been a free man for most of 2014 after being locked up for more than five years—so If anything, this name change is a sign of a focused, business minded Boosie continuing to grow and leaving the "Lil" version of himself in the past.

Since his release, we've heard few street singles and a ton of features, but we're still awaiting his highly anticipated comeback album, Touch Down 2 Cause Hell. The album was due out in July, but has been pushed back repeatedly and may not see the light of day until early 2015.

Until then, we'll just have to sit back and wait for the return of Badazz.
