Viral Video of Pitbull Attacking Kite Surfer Resurfaces, Sparks Shock and Concern

A video from 2019 has resurfaced and is going viral on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, showing a pitbull dog "running on water" to attack a kite surfer. The alarming incident, which left the kite surfer needing 18 stitches, had initially made headlines back in 2019 following a detailed report by the Daily Mail.

The footage was captured off the coast of Punta Rasa, in San Clemente del Tuyu, Argentina, by Gustavo Cervino, the kite surfer involved in the incident. The video shows Cervino gliding over shallow water when a pitbull suddenly emerges, seemingly running over the water, and goes straight for him. The dog leaps into the air and bites into Cervino's upper arm before he manages to free himself.

With an anguished expression, Cervino falls into the water as the dog bites him. "I had to open its mouth with my other hand," he later told reporters. "It tried to bite me in the neck, but I managed to keep it at bay with my hand. If it had bitten me in the neck, I wouldn't have lived to tell the tale."

After the attack, the dog continued to circle Cervino for a short period before finally leaving. Cervino was left bleeding and had to be assisted by a passerby. He drove himself to a nearby hospital where he received 18 stitches for his deep wound.

Cervino reported the incident to the police, but the owner of the pitbull has yet to be identified. "The owner of the dog must have been there," said Cervino. "I did not see him because I had to go to the emergency room at the hospital; I had a very deep cut."

I'm just glad this video was from 2019 because, between sharks and bears, we've seen enough animals hanging out at the beach this year.
