It is Carnival Time, but along with the fun and festivities, we have to deal with barricades along the parade route. Looks like it begins on Thursday, check out the details!

With Mardi Gras activities beginning within the week, the Lafayette Consolidated Government Public Works Department will be preparing for parades and other activities. Below is a work schedule:

Thursday, February 24 - 8:00 a.m. - Place barricades along downtown route.

Friday, February 25 -- 8:00 a.m. - Place barricades on Johnston St. beginning at Vermilion Street and continuing down Johnston St., turn on N. College and head to UL entrance at Reinhardt Drive. Turn lanes at major intersections along Johnston St will allow traffic to cross over.

Saturday, February 26 - 6:30 p.m. - Crews start moving barricades to the sides/shoulders of the road and clean-up.

Thursday, March 3 - 8:00 a.m. - Place barricades along downtown route.

Friday, March 4 - 8:00 a.m. - Place barricades along Johnston Street.

Saturday, March 5 - 6:30 p.m. - Crews clean-up along the parade route, barricades stay in place.

Tuesday, March 8 (Mardi Gras Day) - 2:00 p.m. - Crews move barricades to the sides/shoulders of the road.

Tuesday, March 8 - 11:00 p.m. until complete. - Crews clean-up along parade route and adjoining areas.

Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11 - Pick up barricades and return to Public Works yard and place along Black History Parade route.
