17 year-old Chaz Seale said he accidentally grabbed a beer instead of a Dr. Pepper for lunch on his way out to school. It was an honest mistake for which he is getting suspended.

The story goes, Chaz ran out of the house grabbing his lunch like he normally does. Instead of grabbing a Dr. Pepper, he grabbed a Coors light. I can see this happening very easily. You’re in a rush and you just grab and go. I’ve walked out of my house before with no shoes and my pants on backwards before. It happens!

When Chaz got to school, he noticed his mistake and immediately told his teacher what he did.

Then the teacher followed school policy and told the principal. The principal then made the decision to suspend him for three days, then changed his decision to two months served in another school.

Chaz's mother Christi tried to plead her case by saying:

"He was in a hurry, he was running late. We were talking about school, and he just ran out the door!"

I look at this situation from both sides. I think Chaz is telling the truth. I also think that the principal of the school was doing his job. He was following school policy, and I think he didn't want to suspend the boy but he had to. It would have cost him his job if it wasn't reported. Unfortunately, that's the way things are.

The other thing is, these types of incidents make it difficult for students to trust their teachers and other school administrators. The other students will view it as, Chaz is being punished for doing the right thing.

Either way you look at it, no one wins. But, it was handled by the book and at the end of the day that's all that matters.

His mom is still appealing the school’s decision.
