The senior class at Profile Junior-Senior High in Bethlehem, New Hampshire decided to use the money they raised for their senior trip to help pay for cancer treatments for their principal.

Less than a week ago Profile Junior-Senior High School principal, Courtney Vashaw, announced to her students that she had been diagnosed with a rare form of aggressive cancer. The senior class had spent four years raising $8,000 to take a senior trip to Rydin' Hi Ranch in New York, but after hearing the news the students took a vote, with a unanimous decision, to give their trip money to Vashaw.

Principal Vashaw told WMUR9 “It is very hard for me to accept help, and I have no idea what to say to you,” adding “They are (a) pretty remarkable, fun, astonishing group of people,”. Vashaw said she teaches the students that it’s important to do something bigger than yourself, and this act of kindness is proof they are listening.
