An Open Letter to Roger Goodell – From the Bird’s Nest
As Popeye once said "that's all I can stands, cuz I can't stands no more!"
As Popeye once said "that's all I can stands, cuz I can't stands no more!"
Today, Drew Brees said in a radio interview with ESPN's Scott Van Pelt that the NFL replacement refs were "horrendous" and "an embarrassment to the NFL." If there is ONE play that backed up Brees' comments, it took place in the final seconds of the Monday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks.
The 2012 NFL regular season schedule has been released and we now know who will be playing who, along with when and where those games will take place. There are a lot of key matchups in primetime this year, and it seems as if the scheduling has played right into the big storylines of the NFL. How will Peyton Manning do in Denver? Will Tebow get playing time in New York as a Jet? How will the Saints overcome their bounty penalties?
Though Saints fans may be excited about the Nike's new uniform designs, not all NFL teams are happy.
So I was bummed to the max when I saw the San Francisco 49ers come back in the final seconds to end my New Orleans Saints' Super Bowl run. I was even more heartbroken when the New York Giants defeated the Green Bay Packers 24 hours later, which meant that the NFC Championship would have been held in New Orleans had the Saints won. But after watching this video, I'm not sad anymore.
We won’t know for almost a month if the Green Bay Packers’ 15-1 season ends with a second straight Super Bowl win, but the team’s continued success has certainly helped it snag the title of America’s most popular football team.
In the popular debate on who is most deserving of the honors of NFL MVP for the 2011 season, even as a Saints fan, I would have to be objective and say the Most Valuable Player in the NFL this regular season was Aaron Rodgers. Even with Brees shattering Marino's passing record amongst many other milestones, the Green Bay quarterback had more TDs, fewer interceptions, an insane QB rating and most importantly, the wins. As much as I racked my brain on how I could argue why Brees deserved it, deep in my heart I knew that while Brees was great, Rodgers was better.
And then Week 17 happened.
A month ago most of us were wondering if we would even have NFL football this season. Fortunately, an agreement was reached, and since then NFL football is in overdrive as we are rounding out preseason and gearing up for the kickoff of the regular season. NBC has dropped a commercial that sets the stage perfectly for the NFL season opener, Thursday, September 9, 2011 between the 2009 Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints and the defending 2010 Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers.
It's every football player's dream, to win the Super Bowl!!! You are not only crowned World Champion, you also get the the honor of raising up the Lombardi Trophy, and wearing the Super Bowl Ring you have earned. Well, current Super Bowl Champs, The Green Bay Packers, may have to wait a little longer than they anticipated to get their championship rings.
For the first time in NFL history, there will be no cheerleaders at the Super Bowl. No cheerleaders in the Super Bowl ?? Is this the result of some new rule ? Are the Steelers & Packers cheerleading squads unable to make the trip ? Nope. None of the above.
