University Police say a female student was carjacked Tuesday morning.

According to the release from the ULPD, the victim says she was approached by a black male wearing a gray shirt around 7:00 a.m. while at 118 Oakcrest Drive. She told officers the suspect asked to borrow a cigarette lighter, but when she told him she didn't have one, he allegedy embraced her and threw her into the car and began choking her.

The victim says the suspect then started driving her vehicle, making her get out about one block away.
