Website Takes Credit For Sending Idol’s Toscano Home

If you were as surprised at the seemingly early departure of American Idol hopeful Pia Toscano, you're not alone. Even celebrities including Tom Hanks tweeted "Don't have an IDOL habit, but how could the USA vote Pia off? I may be done for the season! HANX". While the rest of America is recovering from this shocker, at least one website is celebrating. Vote For The Worst is devoted to backing whom they consider has the least potential as an artist and backing them through website promotion and requests for voting support. This year, they've chosen Paul McDonald as their golden child, with their goal of having him selected as THE American Idol or at least upsetting the predictable flow of performer departures. If Paul is eliminated, they'll move on to the next target. As for last night's elimintation, here's what VFTW had to say.

Paul McDonald is safe because of VFTW votes and it sent Pia Toscano to the bottom 3 and then home. Oh yeah, we did that. The females are dropping like flies. And VFTW will continue to vote for Paul so that he sings on each week while all of the people the show wants to win keep going home.

 In the past, they've supported Taylor Hicks, Sanjaya Malakar, Tim Urban, Jasmine Trias, to name a few.

The website has received plenty of negative comments from Idol fans, but surprisingly enough, has also received comments from former Idol performers including Phil Stacey and last seasons front-runner, Crystal Bowersox.

The site has also stirred up some controversy as well, from the Season 7 story regarding many of the performers already having music industry experience, to David Hernandez history as a former gay stripper, to Adam Lamberts famous "Kiss Seen Round The World", which led the general public to question Adam's sexuality.

It must be a bit uncomfortable being selected as VFTW's  favorite to win. On the one hand, you've got plenty of voting support. On the other, it's kind of like winning an Ugliest Dog competition. You win, but...at the end of the day, you're an ugly dog.

American Idol has yet to follow through with any legal action, and has commented that VFTW's existence is like "a fly buzzing around a cow".

Here's to you Pia, we'll miss ya.
