Sean Payton Reveals Alvin Kamara Injured His Knee During Game Against Jaguars
Alvin Kamara went into Jacksonville banged up and left with another leg injury.
The New Orleans Saints running back headed into Week 6 with an ankle injury that caused him to miss the final practice session of the week. He ended up making the trip for the Jaguars game and participated in the Saturday night walkthrough and the pregame warmups which gave him the green light to hit the field on game day.
After running a few plays Kamara exited the game on Sunday then returned in a noticeably limited role. While many (including me) thought that Kamara may have aggravated that ankle injury, Saints head coach Sean Payton revealed that Kamara was actually dealing with two injuries.
Two different things though. Obviously, he had the swollen ankle coming into the game, but he was ready to go. He tweaked his knee. I don’t think it changed what we were doing. We’re going to look at the tape tomorrow and be frustrated at times that first half, relative to certain looks we have. It wasn’t anything difficult because we didn’t get a lot of pressure. We’ll make the corrections and improve in that area.
There doesn't seem to be much worry about Kamara's injury status, especially since he played throughout the game. According to numbers from USA Today Kamara played on 39 of the Saints 66 snaps. Even with Kamara favoring injuries, it allowed backup Latavius Murray to find a groove and make some great plays.
We'll keep you posted on Kamara's injuries as the Saints prepare to hit the road against the Chicago Bears in Week 7.
