New Orleans musician "Big Freedia" could be in some serious trouble. The musician/entertainer is being charged with theft of government funds.

"Big Freedia," whose legal name is Freddie Ross Jr., will soon be in court to defend himself on the charges that he reported a lower income the past five years in order to get government assistance for his housing.

The New Orleans rapper is accused of reporting a lower income so that he could cash in on Section 8 vouchers.

Ross is accused of stealing more than $1,000 in vouchers and if convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison. The charges also carry a $250,000 with it.

According to ABC-10 New Orleans, the musician is scheduled to appear in court March 16. We will continue to follow this developing story.
