When 14-year-old Carleigh O'Connell found out she was the butt of a very public joke about her curvy figure (pun totally intended) she didn't get upset—she totally owned it.

Carleigh isn't the only teenager being shamed over their body image. All across the country, young adults are bullied daily as a result of their bodies changing and developing. It's how Carleigh handled her situation that has the teenager making viral headlines.

As word traveled around school it didn't take long for the 14-year-old to find out about the graffiti on a very public cement barrier in her hometown that boldly said "Carleigh's Ass." Being harassed for having a big "rear end" was part of her everyday routine, but this was definitely the first time the harassment was so publicly embarrassing.

At first she was very upset—but instead of having the graffiti erased or running into the safety of her room and crying into a pillow, Carleigh decided to pose WITH the graffiti while wearing a bikini bottom to proudly show off her figure.

Many would consider this to be inappropriate for a 14-year-old girl, but Carleigh's intentions had nothing to do with being risque' and everything to do with taking the power away from her bullies and inspiring others who face the same type of harassment on a daily basis.

Carleigh wanted the image to blow up and go viral, so she shared it on social media and even encouraged her mom to do the same. Most parents would probably advise their child to take a stand in a way that showed less skin, but Carleigh's mom was 100% in her daughter's corner.

Check out her Facebook post:

The image has been shared tens of thousands of times and Carleigh has gotten attention and support from strangers on social media to TODAY for her body-image message.

The biggest message I want to get across is just to be strong, and that anyone who is experiencing bullying and anything like that, that they're not alone and there's people there for them -- and I'm one of them.

I'd say she can file this one under "Mission: Accomplished."
