Louisiana Chick-fil-A Not Charging Customers For The Bag
Acadiana loves Chick-fil-A just as much as the next guy, but something tells us Chick-fil-A fans won't like the sound of this.
Chick-fil-A Bag Fee
A woman shared a video on TikTok about her recent Chick-fil-A experience. She explains that she is a loyal customer and uses the mobile app frequently to place orders and earn points.
After the woman placed her order on the app for french fries she made a shocking discovery. Chick-fil-A had charger her for the bag. That's right, she was charged for the bag her fries came in.
Frustrated she goes on to ask "What’s next? Are you gonna charge me for the French fry container? You gonna charge me for the potatoes? You gonna charge me to park in your parking lot? Like what’s next?"
10 Cents Won't Stop Us From Craving Chick-fil-A
If people are going to be charged for a bag at a fast-food restaurant, they would most likely accept it from Chick-fil-A. You can't find those iconic crispy chicken sandwiches just anywhere, and in our eyes, Chick-fil-A can do no wrong.
If you are skeptical of whether or not this is real, she shared a screenshot of her mobile order receipt. At the very end of her receipt, it shows a 'bag fee'. Now, while it was only a 10-cent charge, it is certainly understandable why she was frustrated.
Everything is so expensive right now, so what's the reason behind the 'bag fee'? Customers have adjusted to Chick-fil-A and other fast-food restaurants charging for extra sauce, but we don't think they will appreciate being charged for extra napkins or a straw if this trend continues.
Will Louisiana Chick-fil-A Customers See A 'Bag Fee'?
According to a law in Pennsylvania, single-use plastic bags are prohibited. Businesses that want to provide a single-use paper bag are required to charge 10 cents.
The business can offer a compliant bag ... but must charge a fee of at least $0.10 per bag and the fee must be shown on the customer’s receipt
This is commonly seen at grocery stores but this is the first time we have heard of it happening at a fast food restaurant.
The purpose of the fee is two-fold: first, to offset any added costs from switching to a more sustainable bag; and second, to encourage customers to bring their own bag or skip an unnecessary one
I wonder if you could ask for no bag at Chick-fil-A to avoid the additional charge? "What am I supposed to do? Walk out holding it?"
To some, it may not seem like a big deal since it's only 10 cents, but to be fair, the bag used to be free; what will fast food restaurants start charging for next?
If we are honest, we don't foresee this 10-cent charge stopping people from supporting Chick-fil-A, but it certainly does open up an interesting conversation.
