The Dillard's department store located in the Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge will be closing this April, according to a company spokesperson.

WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge is reporting that the store is currently selling its inventory at "deep discounts."

Dillard's is the last store open at the Cortana Mall. But after they close, the mall will be developed into a new warehouse.

According to the East Baton Rouge Planning Commission, Seefried Industrial Properties is the developer on the property. They have built several warehouses and distribution centers for Amazon in the past, including a distribution center in Baton Rouge on Seigen Lane.

Plans have been submitted by Seefried that states the warehouse will be approximately 2.9 million square feet with 1251 parking spaces.

As to when construction will begin, that depends on the approval of plans by the East Baton Rouge Zoning and Planning Commission. Seefried is set to appear before the commission on February 22nd.
