Eunice Teen Shot for Third Time in A Year
A teenager is recovering from a gunshot wound for the third time in a year.
KATC-TV 3 reports that a 14-year-old boy was sent to the hospital Tuesday with his third gunshot wound since last fall.
The shooting happened Tuesday night near the intersection of Jelks and Ulysses streets in Eunice. According to Eunice Police, the teen had been shot in the hip.
According to the report, the teenager was shot back in May, and also suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in August 2021.
Crime in Eunice has been on the rise in recent years, and many citizens have expressed their concerns and their disgust on social media.
Eunice Chief of Police Randy Fontenot has also been very vocal in the media about crime in his city and he recently said, "Until society changes, we can’t expect a change in the behavior of its product."
The chief would also go on to say that many of the shootings in Eunice are all connected to the same individuals, "The recent shootings in our city, except for one, are all connected. The suspects in one shooting are the victims in the next shooting. It is a continuous cycle."
