Flu Virus Causing Carencro Heights To Close On Friday

The Lafayette Parish School System announced Carencro Heights Elementary School will close on Friday because of a large number of confirmed influenza virus cases.

"In addition to preventing the spread of germs, the closure will allow custodial staff to thoroughly clean and disinfect the school as well as allow anyone who is sick time to recover over the extended weekend," says a release from LPSS.

The school will resume classes on Monday.

The Carencro School Based Health Clinic, located on the Carencro Middle School campus, is offering flu vaccines for those with no insurance or that have Medicaid. An appointment is required, though. You can contact them at (337) 521-7499.
