LSU Basketball Coach Kim Mulkey Is Critical of Saints Final Touchdown
LSU Basketball Kim Mulkey has plenty to say to WWL Radio about the "meaningless touchdown" made at the end of the final Saints game of this season.
Mulkey says she doesn't want to hear the talk that "it was his first touchdown". She says the whole thing was disrespectful. But, she didn't stop there. She had plenty to say.
In a seventeen minutes interview below she didn't hold back,
What lessons are you teaching right there? No. I come, you can call it old-school, you can call it whatever you want. I tend to call it disrespectful. That is why, truthfully, the Kim Mulkeys and the Nick Sabans can't coach in the pros.
During Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, the Saints were ahead by a wide margin, and the season was over for Atlanta anyway. Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen gave the call to the quarterback Jameis Winston to kneel on the play, but that is not what happened.
Here's the play:
As our coworker, DJ Digital wrote,
The Saints were comfortably leading 41-17 when safety Tyrann Mathiew intercepted a Falcons pass, falling just short of the end zone. With victory assured and only a minute left on the clock, the saints initially lined up in victory formation, signaling an intent to simply run out the clock. However, in a surprising turn, Winston handed the ball to running back Jamaal Williams, who scored his first touchdown as a Saint and his first of the season.
Winston called for a play that ended up putting the ball in the hands of Jamaal Williams who ended up making a touchdown. This resulted in some very hot and fiery words coming from the Atlanta Head Coach Arthur Smith after the game. The final score 48-17, ouch!
Another result, everyone has been talking about Winston calling a play opposite of what Coach Allen wanted, and no one is holding back their true feeling about what happened. Everyone has an opinion and social media is full of them. Coach Mulkey had plenty to say in a recent interview.
She told former Saints player and current WWL Radio Host Bobby Hebert,
"If the coach tells you to do something, you do it."
Ironically, there was a time when the Atlanta Falcons (Dirty Birds) did the same thing to the Saints that has been the focus of this whole discussion. They scored on us in a very similar situation. See this story.
