‘Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki to Star in ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ Reboot
Supernatural is about to begin its 15th (!) and final (!!!!) season, but star Jared Padalecki is apparently wasting no time in finding a new home. Deadline reports he is going to star in and executive produce a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, the long-running crime series that was a staple of CBS programming all through the 1990s.
Here is how they describe the updated version:
At the center of the series is Cordell Walker (Padalecki), a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case – only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home. In a nod to the original series, Walker and his new partner — one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history — are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what’s right, regardless of the rules.
Oh, as long as they’re modern heroes.
The original Walker (who was a [checks notes] Texas Ranger) was played by action hero Chuck Norris. Also, I was Today Years Old when I learned the original Walker got a TV movie finale, Trial By Fire, which ended on a cliffhanger that has never been resolved. Better get on that, Jared Padalecki!
