Former Major League Baseball slugger Jose Canseco was injured after he accidentally shot himself in the hand while cleaning his gun.

His fiancee, Leila, sent out the tweet and also described the moment when Canseco accidentally shot himself in his Las Vegas home.

he was sitting at a table in their home cleaning the gun when it went off. She says he didn't know it was loaded -- and the shot ripped through the middle finger on his left hand.

Canseco, a former league MVP who hit more than 450 home runs during his 17-season career in the majors and well known for controversy, has admitted to using steroids and claims that performance enhancing drugs are widely used throughout Major League Baseball.

Doctors say he will never have full use of the finger again—and worst case scenario, he will have to have it amputated.

Let's hope Canseco can make a full recovery.
