Junior/Senior ‘Wars’ Have Gone Too Far During Homecoming Week [OPINION]

I'm all about the fun, but these junior and senior wars have gone too far during high school homecoming week.

It has become a tradition for kids that are juniors or seniors in high school to "battle" each other during homecoming week at their school. Well, what started out as a prank has now turned into a living nightmare for some parents.

I have seen many reports this year of property being damaged during these pranks and now some parents say this type of "fun" needs to end because it is costing them money.

Some parents have noted on social media that kids have put substances on their homes and vehicles, thus causing damage to the paint on both.

When people have to start replacing things or repairing things due to these games during homecoming week, it's time to put an end to them. As a matter of fact, there were reports out last year that some schools have told students to no longer take part in these type of activities.

Police departments have also stepped in to put an end to homecoming wars. Last year a local police department warned those who damage property during homecoming week that they could be held responsible for replacing or fixing what they destroy. It was reported that charges could also be filed if property owners pursued them.

Again, I am all about the fun, but things have seemed to go too far in recent years. Is it time for all schools to put an end to these homecoming "wars"? I'll let you voice your opinion on the matter.

On a side note, the first time I saw a house "hit" by students I had no idea what had just happened. There was actually a toilet in the driveway, and I'm fine with that. But to put shaving cream on cars and food condiments on a house? That's a bit too much.

Have fun, enjoy high school, but don't get in trouble or get hurt over a friendly prank---It's not worth it in the long run.
