Lafayette PD Searching for Carjacking Suspect

Monday afternoon a motorist at the intersection of Pinhook and the Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette reported that they had been carjacked. The victim told Lafayette Police the suspect, a black male, commandeered the vehicle and then drove away.

A vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle was spotted later near the intersection of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Kaliste Saloom. When police attempted to engage the suspect he fled on foot. 

A search of the stolen vehicle revealed several items that had been reported as stolen from a residential burglary. At this time police do not have a suspect in custody. The victim in the carjacking was not injured.
