When it comes to sneaker shops, Sneaker Politics has reigned as 'King of the South' for over a decade but this may be one of their best collabs to date.

Politics opened their first location off Arnould Blvd. in 2006, and since then has opened up stores in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Austin as well as a second location in Lafayette. Sneaker Politics owner Derek Curry has done numerous shop collabs with major brands over the years—including an LSU-themed release of the popular SHAQ shoe with Reebok, a beaded Mardi Gras design with Adidas, as well as a recent 'Katrina' release with Jordan brand.

Other collabs have centered around 'Seersucker Thursdays,' 'Storyville,' and even the fabled 'Rougarou'—showing that Curry's focus is always hyper-local when teaming up with these major brands. When it came to the 'Waterboy' collection, the Politics head honcho says it was a fully collaborative concept.

We were discussing the 'Waterboy' movie and one of the Adidas guys asked if it was actually based off of USL. He then revealed that Adidas was the company that made all of the jerseys in the movie, suggesting that we bring them back for the 20th anniversary. Boom. Here we are.

To celebrate the collab, Politics will be throwing a 'Boucher Block Party' at its Baton Rouge location, fully catered with Louisiana BBQ and High-Quality H20.

According to the official press release:

Released during what was arguably the golden age of Adam Sandler‘s film career, The WaterBoy remains a high point in the actor’s filmography, with an impressive $186 million USD box office take and fan favorite performances from Kathy Bates, Henry Winkler, and Jerry Reed. To celebrate the film’s 1998 release date, Adidas introduces a selection of gear branded with logos taken directly from the fictional school at the center of the film, South Central Louisiana State University.

SCLSU logos appear on a special football jersey, varsity jacket, cap and water bottles, complete with the last name of Sandler’s Bobby Boucher. Team colors are recreated on each item, with contrasting blue, orange, and white detailing underscored by Boucher’s number 9 and a “Bourbon Bowl” patch on the jersey. To round out the release, Riddell joined Adidas Football for an extremely limited helmet that offers more SCLSU branding and the logo of the fictional school’s mascot, the Mud Dog.

Adidas Limited Edition SCLSU capsule collection is dropping for the 20th anniversary of The Waterboy. So join us 10/17 at our Baton Rouge location to purchase this collection and celebrate The Mud Dogs Bourbon Bowl Victory for the #BoucherBlockParty to gain first access to the drop and grab some high-quality H2O.

Items from the collection will be available at all Sneaker Politics locations and online at www.sneakerpolitics.com 10/18/2018 at 3:30 p.m. CST
