Louisiana Lottery Reveals Where $3 Million Dollar Ticket Sold
From Lake Charles Louisiana to Baton Rouge to Shreveport and even Baskin, home of Lainey Wilson almost every lottery player in Louisiana has been holding their breath to know where the multi-million dollar Lotto ticket was sold. That drawing was held Saturday night and it was very profitable night for Louisiana's lottery crowd too.
While a lot of the focus has been squarely on the Mega Millions game. There is something about becoming an instant billionaire that will do that. The Louisiana based lottery games have been slowly morphing into some pretty amazing prizes.
For example, the Easy 5 Game. It's a Louisiana game and according the the Louisiana Lottery it's a game that you might play at home on a Saturday night with you friends. Here's the official definition of the game from the Louisiana Lottery's website.
The Easy 5 jackpot prize is a pari-mutuel prize, which is divided equally among all winning tickets and may vary for each drawing. If the jackpot is not won, the prize is carried over and added to the jackpot prize pool of the next drawing.
So you're basically "playing against other players", and the winner is the State of Louisiana, allegedly, as money from this game and all lottery games go to support public education on the state.
Saturday's Easy 5 game had a jackpot of just under $225,000 dollars. That's not a bad return on a one dollar investment, right. As luck would have it a ticket sold for the January 7th drawing had the big money match needed to claim the prize.
While the almost $225,000 was nice the Saturday night jackpot that stole the show was in the Lotto game. The actual jackpot which had been building since July of last years was just over $3.3 million dollars and the Lottery just tweeted out where the big money ticket was purchased.
That's a lot of chicken dinners. Congratulations to the winners in the Lotto game and Easy 5 game. Those game's will start over with new jackpots on Wednesday night. The Easy 5 will be $50,000. The Lotto game will start with a fresh jackpot of $500,000.
We still don't have point of purchase confirmation on a $150,000 Powerball winner sold in the state. The Louisiana Lottery website shows a $150,000 winner but the Big Wins page is still showing the last big Powerball win in the state from Christmas Eve.
Incidentally, just because state lottery officials have not confirmed a winning ticket location doesn't mean there won't be a Powerball drawing tonight, because at 10 pm there will be. The current Powerball top prize is estimated to be $340 million for the annuity payout or $178 million for the lump sum payout.
Either way, annuity or lump sum I am guessing that sudden increase in cash flow would be a welcome addition to your budget. While it's fun to dream, please stay grounded in playing lottery games.
