Nike Mag Raffle and Auctions Help Raise Over $6 Million for Parkinson’s Research
The raffle and auction of the 2016 Nike Mag has paid off in a big way, especially for a great cause in this case. Raising a total of 6.75 million for Parkinson’s research, the Swoosh and Michael J. Fox prove that sneakerheads truly have a heart and show support when in need.
With Nike's auction in Hong Kong raising $104,000 and London's auction raising $56,800, the rest of the proceeds were made through Nike's Draw System, which individuals purchased for $10 a ticket for a chance to win the coveted raffle prize.
While 89 pairs of the 2016 Nike Mag were created, 86 of those pairs were up for grabs through The Draw System. Two were auctioned off a few weeks back through auctions and the last pair of the batch will be auctioned off on Nov. 12 in New York City at the The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s benefit gala, so the current number raised for Parkinson’s Research will certainly go beyond the $6.75 million.
With only one pair left for grabs in New York in the coming weeks, make sure to check back with XXL to find out the total amount raised by Nike through the Nike Mag sneaker.
