It's the time of year when residents of South Louisiana start thinking about parades. For most of us, it's a Mardi Gras Parade on our mind but February initiates another parade of sorts, it's the parade of frontal systems that will eventually usher in the springtime.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say our latest weather system should push into the area late tonight but most likely by early Tuesday. The storm system is expected to bring a threat of rain and some thunderstorms to the state. Most of the stronger storms should stay north of Acadiana.

However, places like Alexandria, Shreveport, Monroe, and Ruston could find themselves experiencing stronger storms during the day on Tuesday than we forecasters believe we will see along and South of I-10.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of central and northern Louisiana in the slight risk category for storms on Tuesday. In South Louisiana, the threat is marginal at best and less than that the further south you go. However, are a more significant threat of strong storms in the southern part of the state could be expected for Wednesday.

The workweek forecast for Acadiana calls for a nice day today with partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures. Tuesday will see a 50% threat of showers. That threat of rain and storms jumps up to 90% by Wednesday. The good news is that the week should wrap up with sunshine and mild temperatures are we get set for the weekend.
