Spoonbill Watering Hole is Nominated for a National Award
According to KATC, Spoonbill Watering Hole and Restaurant, the gas station turned restaurant downtown on Jefferson Street, has been nominated for a 2020 James Beard Foundation Award for its design. It was nominated for the Outstanding Restaurant Design Awards in the 75 Seats and Under category. This is very exciting and well deserved. The design and all the work they did to this old gas station is amazing. It’s very creative and has a ton of character.
The James Beard Foundation also awards chefs. They have the Best Chef category, which is set high culinary standards, along with leadership skills. The chef must have at least five years' experience, with the last three years spent in the region. Issac Toups, of Rayne, was nominated for the Best Chef. Toups operates Toups’ Meatery in New Orleans and was nominated in the South Category, which is all of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Congratulations to Issac Toups on the nomination. That’s incredible!
We will have to keep an eye out on the James Beard Foundation’s Twitter feed, as that is where they will announce the winners on September 25th. Acadiana is representing strong. Good luck to Spoonbill Watering Hole & Restaurant, as well as, Chef Isaac Toups.
