The world Is Becoming A better Place!

Think the world is "going to Hell in a hand basket"? That's a widely held perception all over the world. Not so, according to Swedish academic Hans Rosling. The Conversation reports, he says most people are unaware the world is actually becoming a better place.  Why?...

Life expectancy is increasing...except in the US. Population growth has slowed. Experts expect it to level off over the next 50 years. Child mortality is falling worldwide. Democracy is growing worldwide. Prior to World War II, less than 10% of the world's population lived in democratic nations. It's now over 60%. Income inequality is down...except in the US. 200,000 people rise from poverty every day in other countries. Here in the US, poverty is on the rise. We refer to the championships of our major sports leagues as "world" championships.People from other countries often express the view that we Americans think we're the center of world civilization. That's apparently not so.
