I think we can all agree that we have noticed prices going up at the grocery store over the last few months.

This has many worried about what the holidays will look like for their families.

It is estimated that a Thanksgiving meal will cost families about 13% more this year. That is something that no one was really budgeting into their holiday spending.

However, Walmart and Aldi announced that they will be marking down prices on some popular holiday food items to help families out during the holiday season.

Walmart announced that they plan to mark down items such as turkey, ham, potatoes, and stuffing through December 26, 2022. Walmart will mark down the prices of these items to the prices that they were at this time last year.

"Our approach this holiday helps make sure customers don’t have to compromise on what matters: we’re keeping prices low and our assortment strong to serve them all season long," said John Laney, executive vice president of Food Merchandising at Walmart.

Aldi went a step further and announced that they will also lower prices on certain holiday favorites but they are matching pre-pandemic prices.

“Providing amazing products at the absolute lowest prices is what we’ve always done, and we know right now that’s more important than ever,” said Dave Rinaldo, president of ALDI U.S.

And it seems that it doesn't stop with Aldi and Walmart. Other popular grocery chains are announcing more affordable prices for food going into the holiday season.
