Duane Leblanc, who is the band director at Our Lady of Mercy Middle School, played Taps from his front porch on Sunday afternoon.

Leblanc played Taps to honor the fallen officers in Baton Rouge. Three police officers were shot and killed early Sunday morning, and three more were wounded in a shootout.

According to the Advocate, Leblanc is a former member of the U.S Marine Corps and was a musician while in the Corps. He was reportedly feeling stressed when he decided to take his talents outdoors.

Perhaps this is the sound that Baton Rouge needed to hear after such a tragic day. What a beautiful gesture by the band director.
