Father Slaps Son For Trying To Be In A Gang [VIDEO]

A father is getting mixed feedback for the way he disciplined his son when he found out the young boy was trying to be in a gang.

The video opens up with the father directly addressing anyone who may have tried to jump his son into a gang. He is clear in his message, saying that he refuses to allow his son to be in a gang, and anyone who has a problem can take it up with him.

He then turns to his son—telling him to put up his hands and fight, clearly mocking the young boy's foolish choice to be a "tough guy." Of course the son refuses, as his father smacks him with an open hand, scolding him for wanting to sell drugs and be affiliated with gang activity.

The video is very harsh and features strong language.

The clip has been viewed millions times in just a few short days with many praising the dad, calling him "Father of the Year" for his tough love.

The world needs more fathers like this and less ‘weekend’ dads.

All these people that claim that spanking your kids and punishing them is bad, take a walk in this mans shoes, I rather scare them straight than getting a phone call in the middle of the night telling me my kid is lying in the street dead.

Others believe he went too far, commenting that what the dad did was abuse and that he exploited his son by videotaping him—some even shifting blame to the father for his son's actions.

Hitting your kid in the face is definitely abuse. And if he was raised properly he would understand how stupid gangs are without having to be hit. And do you know how many gangs aren’t drug or violence related. Yeah alot are terrible but not all are the same. This kid is old enough for reason and logic, talk to him.

Lead by example. The kid so far hadn’t broken any laws he is just hanging with people the dad doesn’t like. Is it ok for you to slap your daughter because she hangs with h***? And gangs generally kill other gang members, not innocent people. And large majority of gangs are just crews of friends not real gang activity. If he had been raised properly this situation wouldn’t exist.

Even though this video is very raw, and at some points tough to watch it does show the reality of what some parents have to deal with. It's easy for us to offer up parenting advice from behind a keyboard, but this father is the one who ultimately has to protect his family.
