We already know that January is the coldest month of the year, and the cold vibes may extend further than just from the temperatures. The first month of the new year is reportedly the most popular month the year to file for a divorce. Rumor has it that January has the nickname "Divorce Month" in the legal world. For better or worse, the  numbers suggest that January is indeed the time of year when most couples divorce. According to eDivorcePapers, most legal breakups occur during "Divorce Month."

So what is it, why do so many couples wait till the new year to move ahead with a legal breakup? I think it has to do with two things. One, its a new year, and they want a new begining. Two, they wait until after the holidays so that they can still get what they want for Christmas, and then move on.
