Earlier today, a significant police presence was noted near Northside High School on Moss Street. It has now been confirmed by the Lafayette Police Department that they responded to reports of shots fired around 12:48 p.m. Officers swiftly arrived at the scene, located in the 200 block of Chester Street, where they found a residence displaying multiple gunshot marks.

Thankfully, no injuries resulted from the event, and as of now, no suspect(s) have been apprehended in connection with the shooting.

Due to the shooting's close proximity to Northside High School, the institution was promptly placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure to guarantee the safety of its students and staff. We're relieved to report that the lockdown has since been lifted. Students were safely dismissed from the premises and boarded their respective buses without incident.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are currently on the scene, looking into the matter, and the investigation is actively ongoing.

The Lafayette Police Department is urging anyone with pertinent information regarding this incident to come forward. Those with any insights are encouraged to contact either the Lafayette Police Department directly or the Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

We will update this developing story as more information is confirmed.
