The Lafayette Science Museum in Downtown Lafayette went to social media to address a rumor going around that they were closing permanently.

The good news is that they are NOT closing permanently, but they have closed their doors temporarily due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sadly, a number of employees at the downtown museum have been let go by the city/parish due to budget cuts.

The museum hopes to re-open soon with new displays as we approach the summer months.

The rumor on the closure may have started when someone received an email from the museum stating that they were closing. In the email, it was not made clear that the closure would be temporary.

As soon as the Science Museum re-opens, we will certainly pass along the good news here. It is one of our favorite places to visit during the summer and we hope that the doors will re-open sooner than later.
