People often ask me, and my colleagues, "Why do you work in radio?" For years I have thought about that question, and every time I think about it---I think of the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Did you know that it costs St. Jude Children's Research Hospital $2 million each day to operate? Or that St. Jude has the best survival rates for some of the most deadly childhood cancers in the world?
At the age of 15, Markell Gregoire has faced more adversity than anyone should see in a lifetime—but despite being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma he wants cancer to know that he cannot, and will not be stopped.
For two days (Jan 23-24) our Townsquare Media radio stations dedicated their airwaves to finding Partners in Hope to raise money for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with the annual St. Jude Radiothon. We're proud to say that the 2014 Radiothon helped to raise an amazing $116,982.
When people think of St. Jude, they think of sick kids. That's totally understandable, being that they are the go-to hospital when it comes to the treatment of childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Many would think that a place full of sick kids would have to be one of the saddest places on earth, but kids like Markell Gregoire prove that premonition couldn't be any farther from the truth.
