We hear how deadly it is time and time again, but texting while driving is a huge problem that continues to lead to a ton of unnecessary accidents. Recently, I blogged about bad driving habits in Lafayette, and distracted driving made the list. Every day I see people buried in their phones, putting on make up or digging around in their backseats while driving and it scares me to think that not only are they putting their own lives at risk, but they are putting lives of others on the road at risk as well.

Lafayette is a unique place that is literally oozing with culture. We work hard, we party harder, and there always seems to be a reason to celebrate. Ford Motor Company is installing a feature in its new vehicles -- and many of its older ones -- that can read text messages out loud. The purpose behind this latest upgrade is to limit the amount of "texting and driving" by those in Ford vehicles, and it is all part of of their latest voice-activated technology, Sync.
