An alarming incident unfolded in Baton Rouge as a social media dispute escalated into a shocking act of violence, captured on camera and later circulated online.

The Baton Rouge Police Department has since announced the apprehension of 22-year-old Raneshia Pointer, who now faces an attempted murder charge.

According to a spokesperson from the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD), both Pointer and the victim had agreed to meet on June 7th in the vicinity of Longridge Avenue, with the intention of engaging in a physical altercation. After a scuffle ensued at the agreed-upon location, Pointer abruptly retreated to her vehicle and retrieved a firearm.

The distressing video, recorded from the victim's perspective, showcased Pointer taking aim at the other woman before discharging a single round. Tragically, the victim sustained a gunshot wound to her shoulder but managed to transport herself to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

According to WBRZ, law enforcement swiftly acted, apprehending Raneshia Pointer on Wednesday. She was subsequently booked into the county jail at approximately noon. This is not the first time Pointer has been involved in such confrontations. In a strikingly similar incident last year, she and her mother, Rhesa Pointer, reportedly arrived at a gas station in Ascension Parish, accompanied by a young child, with the intent to engage in a physical altercation with another group of women.

During that altercation, Rhesa Pointer allegedly brandished a firearm and proceeded to discharge multiple rounds, resulting in serious injuries to one of the women involved.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is continuing its investigation into the recent shooting incident, as they work to uncover further details and understand the full extent of the social media feud that precipitated this act of violence.

The authorities are determined to bring justice to all parties involved and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
