Sam's Club will increase its entry-level membership for the first time in almost a decade to help the retail outlet be better able to deal with inflation costs and the impending recession (which financial experts claim will hit within the next 8 months). Sam's Clubs around the U.S. are making a bold but necessary move that will increase Club memberships and Plus memberships starting Monday, October 17, 2022.

  • Sam's Club will raise membership fees starting Monday, October 17, 2022.
  • Club memberships will increase by $5 annually.
  • Plus memberships will be upped $10 annually.

You may remember a few weeks ago, Sam's Club reduced its Club membership fee to $8 for a limited time. Maybe that was to give American families a financial break or perhaps it was to soften the blow of the across-the-board membership fee increases that start tomorrow across the U.S. and elsewhere.

Club memberships will increase from $45 per year to $50 per year. While Plus memberships will rise to $110 per year, an increase of $10. Plus memberships haven't seen an increase since they were introduced in 1999.

Sam's Club President and CEO Kathryn McLay said on social media, Sam's Club (which is owned by Walmart) is mindful of the financial pressures on families right now.

We are mindful of the financial pressure on wallets right now, so this year's renewal is on us. We're giving back $5 in Sam's Cash to Club members and $10 in Sam's Cash to Plus members shortly after the renewal. -Sam's Club President and CEO Kathryn McLay via NewsNationNow.com

Sam’s Club has almost 600 locations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. You'll also find Sam's Clubs in Brazil, China and Mexico.

Many subscription-based services have raised membership costs this year and more are coming.

Sam's Club membership fees are still lower than Costco's. Costco announced it will not be raising its membership fees anytime soon.
