After an area of strong storms and showers blew across Louisiana on Tuesday, most of us in the state are breathing a lot easier and enjoying unseasonably cool temperatures this morning. Okay, we were breathing easier yesterday when the pollen counts were actually low but today you'll be sniffling and sneezing again because yesterday's storms didn't wash all of the "yellow menaces" away.

In fact, Pollen.com is suggesting that Louisiana will have some of the worst pollen counts in the nation today. And we will likely have that high pollen count again on Thursday but that could change on Friday. Why Friday? That's when the state's next round of strong to severe storms is expected to move through.

While the pollen is a nuisance the strong to severe storms can be quite deadly. If you've seen any of the pictures from Mississippi over the weekend you know just how big of a bullet Louisiana dodged when that spate of severe weather passed through.

And as we move deeper and deeper into springtime we can expect more bouts of showers and storms on a regular basis. As of now, the Storm Prediction Center has placed a large part of Louisiana on notice for severe storms during the day Friday into early Saturday. The current forecast targets the central and northern portions of the state for the worst of the weather. But those along the I-10 corridor could be affected by strong storms too.

Based on model guidance the worst of the weather will move across the state in the nighttime hours of Friday into early Saturday. The chances of severe storms increase the further north you travel. For example, the I-20 corridor will be at a slight risk of severe storms while the I-10 corridor will likely only see scattered showers and storms.
