It's midnight New Year's Eve 2020, the balloons fall, we all cheer for the arrival of the new year and everything in the world is better. Covid is gone, hatred has disappeared from the planet, your favorite guy is President, the economy is great and Highway 90 between New Iberia and Broussard is as smooth as a baby's bottom...don't think so.

On New Year's Eve at midnight, we'll still be wearing masks in public places, hatred will still be alive and well, there's only a 50% chance your guy will be President, the economy will still be trying to bounce back and Highway 90 may never be as smooth as a baby's bottom.

In November we get the Presidential election over with, but I believe we will still be dealing with the chaos from the results well into 2021. I hope I'm very wrong, but, if Trump wins we may have unrest in America from one side and if Biden wins we may have unrest from the other side. I heard someone on the news say we could see riots in cities all over the U.S. the night of the election, too big for local authorities to handle.

2021 will mark the end of the 2020 hurricane season, thank goodness. Southwest Louisiana could use a break from the wrath of Mother Nature.

2021 will not bring an end to COVID-19. This pandemic could go on indefinitely. However, my friends who are much more intelligent than I tell me that the pandemic press machine may slow depending on who wins the Presidential election.

Hopefully, 2021 will see the return of a robust economy. As for Highway 90, insert laugh emoji here.

Life is still precious, however. Focus on what's important like your health and your family. Surround yourself with good friends and good food. Smile even when you don't feel like it. Give without expecting to receive. And love...a lot.
