The Pope took a HUGE step into the 21st Century when he elected to  enter into the social media world. Apparently he and the Vatican thought it would be a good avenue to reach out to those Catholics on the social media site.

Following his first tweet, the Pope gained over 700,000 followers on his English Language speaking twitter page. The Pope is also tweeting in other languages like Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.
