Krewe des Chien needs members to fill the 2020 canine court.  The Krewe’s court already has a queen but a king has not been crowned yet. They also need a canine Grand Marshal to lead the parade which will be Saturday, February 15th at 2 pm in Downtown Lafayette.  Anyone who is interested in having their fur baby in the Mardi Gras krewe, you can register by picking up a packet on Monday, February 10th through Friday, February 14th.  Packets can be picked up between 9 AM and 4 PM at Abform Workwear, 167 Industrial Parkway in Lafayette or you can call 337-837-9675.  The membership fee is $25.

Krewe des Chien was established in 1998. They’ve been fundraising and distributing funds to the many animal assistance organizations in Acadiana that is need of financial support.

Gobi, the border terrier mix that was rescued by ultramarathon runner, Dion Leonard, is a special guest of the Krewe des Chien this year. You may know Gobi from the book, “Finding Gobi”, that was written by Leonard.

Lafayette Mayor-President, Josh Guillory, will be leading this year’s parade along with a band from New Orleans.
