Mr. Chimetime has been making his rounds across Lafayette, and it’s safe to say he’s eating good.

From enjoying po’boys at Olde Tyme Grocery (Thanks, Gerald Gruenig) to popping up at Parc De Oaks with food trucks and some of the friendliest people, the viral food reviewer says Lafayette has been nothing short of amazing.

But one stop in particular left such an impression, it cost him more than just his appetite.

A Food Truck Challenge Turns into a Free Meal for 100

After JB’s Cruising Cuisine, a food truck based at 1601 Moss Street, told Mr. Chimetime to pull up and test their plates, he made a bold promise:

“If this food hits, I’ll cover the next 100 meals.”

And guess what? The food hit.

The smothered rib plate brought tears to his eyes. He praised the seasoning, color, and tenderness, even tossing his fork into the plate mid-bite because he couldn’t believe how good it was.

He also tried the pork chop with red beans and rice. While the pork chop wasn’t his favorite, he said the red beans got better with every bite. Eventually, Mr. Chimetime had to tap out, full and satisfied.

As promised, he’s making good on his word. On Thursday July 24, starting at 3 PM, the first 100 people to visit JB’s Cruising Cuisine will eat for free, courtesy of Mr. Chimetime.

Lafayette Is Winning His Stomach and His Heart

Beyond the food, Chimetime says the people in Lafayette are what make the experience even better. From friendly invites to funny exchanges in the comments, he’s enjoying himself in a way that feels right at home.

He even ranked his Top 5 Boudin Spots in the 337, putting an end (for now) to one of our favorite South Louisiana debates:
